Do resurrected beings need to consume food?

Question

Dear Gramps

Will we still be able to eat in the millennium and in the eternities?

Patricia

Answer

Dear Patricia,

The resurrected body is indestructible. All of the children of our Father in Heaven, as offspring from Deity, will live forever, as God our Father lives forever.

So a resurrected being cannot starve to death. Now, whether or not eating is a requirement for full functionality, or is a convenience, or is normally indulged in at all, I have no idea.

However, we do know this, that on the same day of the Savior’s resurrection he appeared to the eleven as they were gathered together. They were terrified at his appearance, thinking that they were seeing a spirit. So to demonstrate to them that he was indeed the resurrected personage whom they had known before he asked for something to eat. They brought him a fish and some honey, which he ate before them to demonstrate that it was a corporeal being before them and not just a spirit (Luke 24:36-43).
