Shouldn’t the questioners ask their bishops rather than you?

Question

Gramps,

In answer to a sister’s question about her husband having Alzheimer’s Disease, shouldn’t she ask her bishop before she asked you?

Answer

Dear Steve,

You’re absolutely right! In fact, every question proposed to me could be better answered by the person’s own bishop. However, they know all that just as you do. I would perfom a great service, wouldn’t I, if I merely said, “Go talk to your bishop!” More often than not that would be taken as a slap in the face. However, there are sensative areas where I do tell them just that. We only hope that we can provide a little comfort to the disconsolate, and perhaps enlighten the curious on matters that are not of vital importance.
