If you bear your testimony are your sins forgiven?
Gramps,
I have heard a number of members say they are bearing their testimony because when they do their sins are forgiven..is it this easy ? Or have these members been misled.
Confused but Hopeful
Dear Confused,
Looks to me like a vain hope. Testimony, a reaffirmation of the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, could actually invoke condemnation rather than forgiveness, unless the testimony were accompanied by true repentance. Perhaps these members are confusing public confession with testimony.

Bruce R. McConkie (Quorum of the Twelve)
The relationship between the bearing of testimony by the power of the Holy Ghost and the forgiveness of sins illustrates a glorious gospel truth. It is that whenever faithful saints gain the companionship of the Holy Spirit, they are clean and pure before the Lord, for the Spirit will not dwell in an unclean tabernacle. Hence, they thereby receive a remission of those sins committed after baptism. (The Mortal Messiah 3:40)
D&C 62:3 (Jesus Christ)
… [Y]e are blessed, for the testimony which ye have borne is recorded in heaven for the angels to look upon; and they rejoice over you, and your sins are forgiven you.
